Boston Snow Emergency Lifting at 6 p.m. Tuesday

The Boston snow emergency and parking ban will be lifted as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. Charlestown residents who parked their cars in garages during the snow emergency have until 8 p.m. to move them before reduced rates expire.

Certain streets will continue to be specified as "no parking" while crews continue to remove snow.

The MBTA is now running on its regular weekday schedule, and trash and recycling collection will be conducted on the normal schedule.

From the Mayor's Office: "A reminder during and after the storm, carbon monoxide is a potential danger. Remove snow around any external vents on your home, clean around the muffler before starting your car, and never grill inside or use your oven for heat."

The snow emergency and parking ban went into effect at noon on Friday.

    Power Outages

Just over 500 NSTAR customers in Boston were without power at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The city appears to be one of the lighter-hit areas in the electric company's coverage area. Communities along the coast and out on the Cape are experiencing much higher rates of power outages, with more than 90 percent of NSTAR customers out in towns such as Scituate, Duxbury, Marshfield and Plymouth.

Closer to Boston, the hardest hit town so far Saturday morning is Dedham, with about 3 percent of NSTAR customers without power.

Experiencing an outage? Report it now! (And tweet@CharlestwnPatch if you get a minute.)

    USPS

U.S. Postal Service delivery in all of New England, including the Boston area and all of Massachusetts, was suspended for Saturday, Feb. 9 because of safety concerns during the winter storm, according to the Huffington Post. Delivery was expected to resume on Monday.
