Charlestown Democratic Committee Elects New Chair
Chris Remmes will take over leadership of the ward committee.
Local resident Chris Remmes was elected chairman of the Charlestown Democratic Ward Committee at the meeting following the recent caucus on Feb. 13.
Remmes replaces Paul Hollien Jr., who stepped aside because of family obligations.
“Chris will bring a positive energy to the committee and will work to bring people together," Hollien said after the election.
Remmes is a longtime resident of High Street, a 1987 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the first openly gay chair of the Ward Committee. He has been active in many local campaigns including Elizabeth Warren’s and Deval Patrick’s re-election.
“I look forward to working with everyone in Charlestown to create a better quality of life in our community," Remmes said.
The Charlestown Democratic Ward Committee is currently working on a new voter outreach program and a spring event.
The Ward Committee is the local unit of the Democratic Party. They meet four times per year, and their meetings are open to anyone who is interested. They work to promote the Democratic Party and its candidates.
