Bunker Hill Tops Raspberry Bouquet, Both Solid
Winner says it's good to see positive attention paid to both businesses.
If you’re looking for the best florist in Charlestown, well, both are good options, according to this week’s winner.
“It was great to see such nice comments that people feel warmly about each of our businesses,” said Joe Shadroui, owner of Bunker Hill Florist.
Shadroui’s business took 67 percent of the vote in this week’s poll, coming out over Raspberry Bouquet, but Shadroui said that may have had a lot to do with his history in town.
Bunker Hill Florist has been in business for three decades, making Raspberry Bouquet the relative newcomer.
“I think that Lauren [at Raspberry Bouquet] does a great job,” Shadroui said. “We have a good relationship with each other.”
The two businesses sometimes help each other out, he said; when one of the shops runs out of a particular supply, they may get it from their friendly competitor across town.
While Shadroui said it felt “awkward” to have his business pitted against the only other florist in town, he said it was good to see positive attention paid to both shops.
Next week, we’ll give you a chance to pick Charlestown's best place to get a Mother’s Day brunch. Want to nominate a business that should be included in our poll? Send your nomination to mattc@patch.com. This will allow us to be sure we don't leave anyone out. Polls open at 6 a.m. Monday. Remember to vote, to leave a positive comment on the article and a stellar review on the establishment’s Patch directory listing, all of which are considered when selecting the winner.

Well put, Joe. I enjoyed reading your most gracious comments about Lauren and her wonderful, creative self.
