Brown Beats Warren in Charlestown Through March

Warren raises more of Boston's money than Brown did.

If Boston’s dollars alone determined the outcome of this November’s Senate race between Republican incumbent Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, Warren would win.

According to data from the Federal Elections Commission through the end of March, Warren pulled more dollars from the city—$674,840 vs. Brown’s $562,329.

The Harvard professor and former appointee of President Barack Obama also led Brown on the simple number of contributions—1,364 compared to Brown’s 909—but her victory was far from complete.

The candidates gathered contributions from residents in 32 Boston ZIP codes, and Brown outraised Warren in 17, including Charlestown.

Despite the prevalence of Warren posters around town, Brown collected $18,987 from your neighbors, about $1,700 more than Warren collected from Townies and Toonies.

Brown’s Boston supporters also displayed greater enthusiasm, giving an average of $619 per donation compared to Warren’s $495, but it’s worth noting that Warren had not yet been named as the Democratic nominee at the time of the last-listed contributions.

Late in 2011 Professor Elizabeth Warren arrived by limousine to make her first campaign stop in South Boston at the Broadway T stop. A little later Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren said she'll be actively courting the "hick" vote in 2012.

In the process of emerging as the new candidate the comment was made in jest I guess?

Recently Gov Patrick had jump to save the professor from reporters questions about her
biography.

The bottom line is she had positioned herself to oversee a new federal agency to rewrite the bank rules of lending. President Obama chose someone else and sent her packing her bags back to Massachusetts

'Late in 2011 she arrived by limousine...'; 'She said she'll be actively courting the hick vote'; 'Gov Patrick had to save her...'; And the "bottom line" is that she "positioned herself to oversee a new federal agency".
This is all pretty scary stuff! That is, until these petty non sequitur attacks are placed in the context from which they were derived. Then one is left thinking, "oh she referred to herself as a 'hick'". And I see that Bill Carson juxtaposed that comment with her taking a "limousine" to South Boston in order to make her look like a snob. And that she didn't really position herself to oversee the new federal agency so much as she was tapped by the president to do so. And that the president didn't really send "her packing her bags" so much as the Republican opposition was so vehemently opposed to her appointment. Next I guess you're going to tell us she claimed to be part Native American to get a free lunch... oh the horror.

Is this all there is to politics these days? Are there not others out there that want to have a rational, dispassionate conversation about the approach each candidate would bring to legislation if (re-)elected?
