Best of Patch: Who Makes The Best Sandwiches in Charlestown?
Please vote for your favorite sandwich place by taking our poll and by clicking on the directory link and writing a short 1 or 2 sentence review.
Our inaugural Best of Patch contest kicks off this week with food on our minds.
Do you have a favorite sandwich place or sub shop in town?
Here are some of our favorite places, but if we're leaving one off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it:
- Style Cafe
- Sorelle Bakery & Cafe City Square
- Navy Yard Bistro and Wine Bar
- Ironside Grill
- Jenny's Pizza
- Warren Tavern Restaurant
- American Bakers' Cafe
- Zume's Coffee House
- D'Eddy Restaurante
- Grasshopper Cafe
- Vivian's Cafe
- Family Kitchen
- Toni Ann's
And if your favorite place to grab a sandwich is outside of Charlestown, vote here: Somerville; Beacon Hill; Back Bay; and South End.
Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

I was sad to see that TONI ANN'S pizza and sub shop was not listed. They are a new business on Main St and have only been operating since November. Their food is really good and their staff is just as friendly.

You're only supposed to vote once, but we at Patch have no way of knowing if you've voted more often, so technically you -can- vote for two.
However, consider this: If you were on a desert island, far from civilization, isolated for months, living only on wild game and wild plants, and the rescue helicopter coming for you could only bring ONE sandwich from ONE Charlestown shop (gotta save weight to get that bird off the ground) which sandwich would it be?
You don't have to answer; that's just some food for thought (yuk yuk).

The Family Kitchen gets my vote! They make the biggest, tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. Affordable, good size portions and a variety of sandwiches using the freshest ingredients. My favs - haddock sandwich or the eggplant parm. Either one - you can't lose!

Toni Ann's - If I may say so honestly was very mediocre. It seems reasonable but I won't have much memory of it in a few weeks or so.
Family kitchen though defines local food to me. It is a hole in the wall that offers you atmosphere and true local cuisine. A real pleasure.

Coming from London - finding a small little place to eat was a piece of cake! Ever since I moved to Charlestown - it is nice finding places around that are local and add a small touch of flair to the neighborhood. I've been to several on this listing and truly enjoyed them all. Of course a few stood out too me but I especially enjoyed Family Kitchen. The food was outstanding (like most places) but I really enjoyed the businesses decorations on the front. its the small things to me. Good luck everyone!
