Alleged Ambush Sends One to Hospital, Two to Jail
Police arrest Norwood man and Charlestown woman.
An alleged ambush sent one man to the hospital and his two alleged attackers to the hospital on Sunday.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, according to a police report, officers responded to the intersection of Chelsea Street and Warren Street for a report of a domestic assault and battery.
When police arrived, emergency medical responders were already helping the crime’s victim, who suffered neck, arm, face and head injuries.
“He kept saying that they set him up and they hit him with a baseball bat,” the report reads.
The victim told police that he had an issue with an ex-girlfriend earlier in the day, and had been told to come over later to retrieve his clothes.
“When he got there and entered the apartment,” the victim told police “he was struck with a baseball bat over the head… he was then hit several more times with the bat and punched.” He added that his ex-girlfriend joined in the assault.
Officers investigated the apartment in question and did not find a baseball bat, but found an object that could be confused for one. They also found blood in the hallway.
As a result of the incident, police arrested Shawn Gutowski of 82 Monroe Street in Norwood and Jennifer Donlan of 65 Chelsea Street in Charlestown and charged them with assault-related offenses.
