A New Local Editor at Charlestown Patch
Becca Manning will be covering your town.
I would like to introduce myself as your new permanent local editor for Charlestown Patch. I'm taking over officially for former Charlestown editor Matt Casey and for interim editor Nate Homan, who has been keeping you informed prior to my arrival.
A little about me: Most recently, I worked as the local editor for Needham Patch, starting with the company in April 2011. Before moving to Boston, I lived and worked on the South Shore as the assistant editor of a community weekly, the Pembroke Express, for the independent, family-owned Clipper Press—a paper I was lucky enough to get to start from the ground up. I was promoted to Pembroke editor in 2009 and briefly took over as editor of two other Clipper Press weeklies, the Hanson Express and the Whitman Express, before signing on with Patch.
I'm still pretty new to New England, having moved here in 2008, although I'm quite familiar with the hot summers and cold winters—I grew up and went to school in southwestern Ohio. So you could say I'm a Midwestern girl at heart but a Boston girl in spirit. Either way, I am right where I want to be for now.
As you can see in my Patch profile, I've been in journalism for more than a decade, working for dailies, weeklies, magazines and now on the Web. I've always enjoyed doing community news—covering the local stuff that matters most. I look forward to finding out what matters to you and keeping Charlestown Patch a strong resource for the people who live and work here.
I can be reached at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org, or at my work cell, 781-217-4233. And remember: You can follow Charlestown Patch (and me) on Twitter @CharlestwnPatch and on Facebook, at facebook.com/CharlestownPatch.
See you around town!
