5 Things: Republican Committee Meeting, Snow Info

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Jan. 22 in Charlestown.

1. Snow: More snow is expected this morning, mainly before noon, with the rest of the day mostly cloudy, according to the National Weather Service. About 1-2 inches of new snow accumulation is possible. Evening wind chill values will drop as low as -7 degrees. High: 28, Low: 7.

2. Charlestown GOP: The Boston Ward 2 Republic Committee will hold their next regular meeting today at 7 p.m. at Papa Gino’s in the Bunker Hill Mall. For more information, visit bostonward2republicancommittee.com.

3. City alerts: With the possibility of snow emergencies, it’s a good time to make sure your updated contact information is registered with Alert Boston, the city's emergency notification system. Sign up to get emergency alerts on your phone, by email or text message.

4. Emergency info: If Boston does declare a snow emergency, check out this list of streets where parking would be prohibited, as well as lists of “dos” and “don’ts” and important emergency numbers.

5. Help needed: The Friends of the Charlestown Library is looking for volunteers to help with their RIF program on Jan. 24. They need volunteers from 1-2 p.m. to set up the books, 4-5 p.m. to help distribute and from 5-6 p.m. to help clean up. It is a wonderful way to help this local resource and incredible program.
