3. “Race for Rehab” fundraiser: Help the Spaulding “Race for Rehab” team reach their Boston Marathon fundraising goal by buying dinner tickets at Navy Yard Bistro tonight or Tuesday. Tickets cost $50 each and include a three-course tasting meal. Reservations are requested for parties of six or more.
4. Homework help: The Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library offers a free drop-in homework help program for students in grades K-8. High school-age mentors from Boston's public and private schools provide the academic support. The program runs daily most weeks, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Visit the library website for more information.
5. Ice skating: The Boston Common Frog Pond is open daily for public ice skating throughout the season. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for ages 14 and up and free for ages 13 and under. Skate rentals cost $5 for kids and $9 for adults.

What kind of authority does the CNC have in granting liqour licenses? In fact, what authority does the CNC have in any issue? These are serious questions. I don't know much about them (besides the fact that I never see anyone post anything positive about them).

To the best of my knowledge the CNC doesn't have any actual authority. They can't approve or deny any licenses. The idea is to have a group of representatives to furnish a form of public opinion on matters related to Charlestown. Sometimes they move the needle, sometimes they don't.

@Tangierino - Why do you have to get approval from the CNC? Unless of course, you're being shaken down by the "elected" officials on the Board. Who on the CNC has the authority to tell the City of Boston who and who not to grant liquor licenses? All legitimate questions.

I see no reason why the CNC should be a part of this process. Who in Charlestown would have any issues with Tangierino having a full liquor license? I doubt anyone would.

I also would like to know where the CNC gets to vote if Tangerino's gets a license or not,
Here they go again voting on something without the support of the Residents of the Town, which they are famous for!
