5 Things: International Women's Day Concert at BHCC

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 7 in Charlestown.

1. Snow: Charlestown could see 2-4 inches of snow today, according to the National Weather Service. It will also be windy, with wind gusts up to 44 miles per hour. High: 35, Low: 33.

2. Women’s Day concert: Celebrate International Women’s Day with a concert at Bunker Hill Community College today from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Charlestown campus’ B Building main lobby. All-women band Zili Misik will perform a blend of "Haitian misik rasin, Jamaican roots reggae, Afro-Brazilian samba, Afro-Cuban son and African American spirituals, blues, jazz and neo soul,” according to a listing on the college website. The concert is free and open to all.

3. Project meeting: The Charlestown Neighborhood Council will host a meeting on the proposed redevelopment of 20 Concord St. tonight at 7 p.m. at the 100 Ferrin Street Senior Center Community Room. The project involves the renovation of an existing single-family home and the addition of a second dwelling in the rear yard area.

4. Lenten mission: Every Thursday during the Lenten season, Saint Mary-Saint Catherine of Siena Parish hosts an evening of socializing and reflection at 7 p.m.. Meetings will also be held on March 14 and 21.

5. Support Dana-Farber: The Friends of Dana Farber’s 15th annual Chefs Cooking for Hope will be held tonight from 6:30-9 p.m. at 125 High St., Boston. Enjoy a taste of signature specialties prepared by chefs from some of the area’s most popular restaurants and help raise funds for adult and pediatric cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Tickets cost $100 each and can be purchased by calling 617-632-3909 or visiting www.dana-farber.org/friends-chefs. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
