5 Things: CNC Meeting, Dr. Seuss Party

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on March 5 in Charlestown.

1. Rain and snow: Today will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers before 9 a.m., then a slight chance of rain showers, according to the National Weather Service. A mix of rain and snow showers is possible again in the evening. High: 43, Low: 34.

2. CNC meeting: The Charlestown Neighborhood Council will hold its monthly general meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Meetings are open to the public.

3. Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Bash: Bright Horizons at The Schrafft Center will host a literary celebration of Dr. Seuss today from 5-6:30 p.m. Families can participate in "make and take" activities, join the story corner for some Dr. Seuss originals, listen to music from “Seussical the Musical” and even try a taste of green eggs and ham. 4. Music at the library: Children are invited to drop by the Charlestown Branch of the Boston Public Library today at 11 a.m. for free musical activities. Play simple instruments, sing, dance and learn with performer Sarah Gardner. This program is geared toward ages 2-5, accompanied by an adult caregiver.

5. Orange Line diversion: Buses will replace trains between Sullivan Square and Oak Grove MBTA stations today and tomorrow from 9 p.m. until the close of service. The diversion will also be in effect the weekend of March 9-10, with regular Orange Line train service scheduled to resume on Monday, March 11.
