CHAD Plans First Annual Turkey Trot Kids Races

[UPDATE, Tuesday, 2:07 p.m.]

Runners of all ages are invited to participate in Charlestown Against Drugs' inaugural Turkey Trot Kids Races.

There will be races for boys and girls of all ages and a separate race for Mom and Dad. The winner of each race will win a frozen 12- to 15-pound turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.

The first race will kick off at the track and field next to the Charlestown Community Center at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 17. Rain date is Nov. 18. There is no entrance fee; sign up on the day of the race.

Along with the races, there will be a prize for best costume and a turkey chuck contest.

Food donations which would add to a turkey dinner will be received on behalf of Charlestown’s Harvest on Vine Food Pantry.

This is a great idea. What is the length of the race and how do you sign up?

Lengths depend on age and range from 50 YDS to a quarter mile. (races for all ages from toddlers to adults) You don't have to sign up in advance. Just come down to the track!

Does that include adult races or will there be a 5k or something?

There is no 5K. This is mainly geared toward kids and families. Adults can run a quarter mile race if we have enough interest.
